			<title>Captain's Blog Goodbye Summer 2010, hello Autumn!</title>
			<link>http://www.usschallenger.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=110&amp;Itemid=63</link>
<description>The summer months were incredibly active for us between our Kick Off Summer picnic in May, Atomicon XX held the same weekend, our annual BBQ bash which was, as always well attended by a number of Starfleet chapters, Shore Leave 32 that was equally fun, joint movie gatherings for such flicks as &quot; The A-Team&quot; and for 4 of us, a trip to Oklahoma for the Starfleet International Conference where we promoted our own IC set for next year in August in the Poconos.

I enjoyed some time at Monster Mania in Cherry Hill and Jeff and Laura Victor and Joe spent some considerable time at the Creation Con in the Meadowlands in early August. I hated to miss that con but Counselor Emily and I certainly had our fun in Cozumel that same weekend.

<description>Well none of us made it to the movies but we did have an interesting fun filled day of activity between Atomicon XXI and the events that followed. Yesterday's visit to Atomicon XXI was a lot of fun. I am now the proud owner of the cheesey Captain America movie made in the 90s..yeah really bad but hey it was a buck.

<title>Star Trek: The Next Generation Casting Memo Unearthed</title>
			<link>http://www.usschallenger.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=109&amp;Itemid=71</link>
			<description>From TrekToday.com:
Had things gone differently, fans might have seen Tim Russ or Wesley Snipes as Geordi La Forge.
An old casting memo dated April 13, 1987 from Paramount shows the actors and actresses who might have been chosen to play the roles of Picard, Ryker and La Forge instead of Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes and LeVar Burton.
The memo shows that while some characters had multiple actors vying for the role, two characters had only one actor or actress in contention, and in both cases, neither got the role.

			<title>Home from IC 2010... Bob got a Lifetime Membership!</title>
			<link>http://www.usschallenger.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=107&amp;Itemid=63</link>
<description>We're back from the rolling hills of Oklahoma and we had a great time at IC 2010. Thanks to Greg and his team for a wonderful weekend filled with great food, friends old and new and most of all, lots of Southern hospitality! For those of you who stopped by the hospitality suite, we wanted to say thanks. We collectively consumed over 200 cans of soda, 1200 imitation cheese puff balls, 800 pretzel logs and lots of Trek, Sci-Fi and conversation up in the Wrangler Suite. It was a pleasure hosting everyone and we can't wait to do it again in 2011.
Also, we're thrilled to announce that our own Admiral Bob Vosseller has been awarded STARFLEET's highest honor, the Lifetime Membership. I believe Bob is the 24th lifetime membership that has been awarded. To become eligible for the lifetime membership, you have to have held therank of Admiral for more than 5 years or serve as Fleet Admiral. Additionally, you must be recommended by the members of the Executive Committee and confirmed by a full vote of the Admiralty Board.

<description>Hey, we've all had to take jobs we're not proud of... except that no one's got footage of you cleaning up Aisle 5 at WalMart during your high school summer job. Hollywood actors are not so lucky. Check out these 5 examples of terrific talent and how low they have sunk!
